The Fire of Commitment

"From the light of days remembered burns a beacon bright and clear. Guiding hands and hearts and spirits into faith set free from fear. When the fire of commitment sets our mind and soul ablaze, when our hunger and our passion meet to call us on our way, when we live with deep assurance of the flame that burns within, then our promise finds fullfillment and our future can begin." The Fire of Commitment by Jason Shelton and Mary Katherine Morn

We went to church this morning (First Unitarian Society) and ran into grandma and grandpa--hurrah!

We went swimming in the afternoon, ran into some of Evie's neighborhood friends who basically excluded her per the directions of another friend they were with. I was so mad I wanted to scream! Evie was upset, having spent the previous day joyfully with said friends. AARRGHH! Interestingly, as soon as we left Evie was already talking about the friends lovingly and planning what she was going to make for them for Valentine's Day--unfortunately I don't give up a grudge so easily.

After swimming we went to the craft store to get Valentine materials. Evie found some cool red, sparkly FIMO clay she is going to use for valentine necklaces. We also found a US map with the spots for all the state quarters. We had just talked about looking for one in the morning! When we got home Evie sorted all her quarters and put some into her map. Then she made up a cool game using the state seals we popped out for the quarters.

We spent a quiet evening puttering, watched "Extreme Makeover : Home Edition" and cried our eyes out.

A day well lived!
