Making a Life
Well, one would think that we have enough on our plates right now, what with launching La Fortuna and all. The thing is, La Fortuna is just one part of our life. It is a really big one, but it is not everything.
After Evie and I went to the DMV this morning to get plates for the new truck, we came home and cleaned the kitchen in preparation for 4H cooking group. Today's challenge was for the group to create three dishes (appetizer, main and dessert) featuring a secret ingredient in one hour. The secret ingredient (revealed by me when all were assembled to cook) was basil! We had mini margherita pizzas, pesto pasta and basil ice cream! It was all delicious--especially the ice cream. The cooks ranged in age from 6 to 17, they worked together like a well-oiled machine.
After everyone left Evie and I went out to monitor our stream for the DNR. It is is much better shape than this time last year--I love citizen science projects.
Laundry and dishes still have to happen, reading for pleasure, reading to find out how to fix rust, filling in forms, exercising, telling bad jokes, makin' stuff -- it is all part of making a life. The past is done, the future will get here eventually but RIGHT NOW is when life happens. Everything you do is about making a life, make sure it is the one you want!
