Family Commitment

Yesterday was spent buying food, picking food, processing food . . . for the full story check out our other blog.

What struck me yesterday was Evie's wholehearted commitment to working for the family. She picked and washed and sliced right along side Scott and I. We went to the pool for a few hours but other than that all three of us were hard at work until 10:00 pm. I asked Evie if she wanted to go find friends to play with, "No, I like working here." We talked, listened to music, danced and laughed. We marveled at the place we picked our tomatoes for canning and just generally had a good (albeit exhausting) day.

I like that we can all work together. I like that we all like each other.

this is the life! i love reading your adventures as a family...it definitely warms the soul!

we wish we were with you harvesting, washing and canning...okay and we would have loved listening to music & dancing!

not that you need to be told...but you have one incredible child...Evie is an absolute gem!

wish we could be near each other.

I am so jealous of your harvesting. We've been working on improving the soil and didn't plant anything edible this summer (although we did have some pumpkin plants come up from the compost.)

Glad I found your site. I'm sure I'll be back soon!
