Mud day

Today is mud day! We will add the cob to our oven and it will really start to look like an oven! We worked hard yesterday building the base, adding pavers, flashing, 3 inches of sand and finally the fire bricks that will be the hearth. It was 87 degrees here yesterday so we felt how well all the materials retained heat! Of course we took a few breaks, during one break Evie invented a log rolling game that was quite challenging. I made a pot holder for a friend out of the cutest vintage fabric ever. She gave me almost 5 yards of it the other day when we went strawberry picking. I will post a picture of that later.
