Paradise Lost

No, my 6 1/2 year old daughter has not discovered Milton, this post is about the Barbies. You all know how I feel about Barbies. In case those posts don't make it clear, I find our play with Barbies to be fascinating, endlessly complex and extremely important in the way Evie makes connections. We recently purchased the movie Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses It is yet another wonderful Barbie movie and she has watched it at least 6 times in the last week (I have only watched in twice all the way through). Today the Barbies reenacted the whole story complete with movie dialogue. It was funny to say things like "Okay, now the Oracle is Kathleen" since most of the Barbies were originally named as part of the Paradise Island/Wonder Woman game of the last 2 years. I am interested to see where this all goes. We looked up "12 Dancing Princesses" in Wikipedia, I put 11 books on hold from the lirary, Evie asked me to find some Mendelssohn music (featured in the movie) and she has plans to round up the neighborhood kids to put on a play. I love it when stuff catches her attention, I never know where it will go. Following are pictures of the Barbies in their drab clothing given to them by the evil Rowena, the last three are the triplets, according to Evie--I would have taken them for triplets anywhere, LOL! (I can't get the picture to flip so you'll just have to crane your neck.)
