Saturday brought the latest installment of Harry Potter (book 2, chapters 8 & 9). Finally all five girls, from their tight little group are involved. We had a feast to eat and a feast for our eyes. All other family members were present plus a bonus grandma! Every time is better, more creative more hilarious, more fun. The audience even got sorted this time! (I was in Ravenclaw.)
Sunday brought another party. We read a play written by the amazing Dan Bradley, who also happens to be an amazing dad of two amazing girls--two of Evie's dearest friends--and wife to a spectacular woman. All in all, we are big fans of the whole family. We had three generations from three families as various grandparents joined us. The play is a hilarious political satire delivered with many inside jokes about Madison and an overall message about the value of collective, grass-roots effort. It was SO MUCH FUN!
As if that weren't enough, we then went to Aldo Leopold's shack (also "in the family"--just not ours) to watch the cranes (mostly Sandhills) come in for the evening.
Then there was food and telescopes and laughing. Oh how we all needed to play. Thank goodness we did!
