Today we decided to take a jaunt over to Walden Pond. In the biographies of Louisa May that we have read, Henry David Thoreau is always the uncle everyone wishes they had. He was a deep thinker, a passionate nature lover, a problem solver and a loyal friend. It was very moving to walk the land he walked and see some of what he saw. Evie wanted to get in the water, there were gorgeous stone steps for people to access the water all around the pond. Evie got in, clothes and all, and swam from step set to step set. Blessed by the waters of Walden--a fitting act in a free life.
