You Can't Make This Stuff Up!
We just returned from a fantastic weekend in the Grand Marais, MN--that's WAAAAY up north where the water is cold (Lake Superior), the air is perfect (temps in the 50s) and the mosquitoes are the size of 747s!
We were up there for a log rolling and boom running tournament, the only boom tournament that includes amateurs. The tournament was part of the annual Fishermans's Picnic and included lumberjack contests of all kinds. Of course we all had to try our hand. We all competed in the cross cut saw contest and axe throwing--no, I am not kidding.
We also explored rocks and waterfalls, Evie played in the FREEZING cold water of Lake Superior, we skipped rocks and relaxed.
The community of folks involved in Lumberjack Sports is incredibly generous, supportive and all around nice. Evie did her best on he longest, hardest boom in the world and she was impressive.
