Monumental!

We toured the monuments today. The WWII monument was really moving to me, my grandpa fought in Burma in WWII and never said much about it. There were lots of WWII veterans at the memorial and it made me miss him. Evie loved the FDR monument, it was very interactive and told a story with its design. She also liked the Lincoln. It was fun to see her make so many connections: the back of a penny, where Superman traps Bizarro, the civil rights march, emanicipation proclamation--they all became more real and more connected by standing on the steps at Lincoln's feet.

Tonight we worked in my uncle's pottery shed. Evie got to work on the wheel and hand build. It was what she had been waiting for all day.

A day well lived!
